modern 50

this website sells all kinds of vintage furnishings with some pieces dating back to the early 1800s. It is really fun to look through their website because they sell some of the most bizarre things i have ever seen. i posted a few pictures of the things i like from their website, which are more on the conventional side of what they have to offer...

i love a good break.

whenever things in life aren't wonderful, it's nice to have good friends to hang out with. i can never stop laughing when we are all together. michael has the best screened in porch to hang out on so thats exactly what we did last night. i realize that there is a 3 to 1 boy to girl ratio in our group of friends so whenever the girls can pull the boys away from playing halo (or whatever game it is that they play) this is what we do...

i love getting breaks from school so we can all hang out. hope everyone is enjoying their break and getting to catch up with friends and family!

pumpkin bar recipe

I wanted to make these last week, but I finally got around to making them today. Pumpkin bars are another one of those landmarks to show that the fall season is here. They show up at tailgating tents during football season, the dessert table after thanksgiving, and variations of recipes for them show up in magazines such as good housekeeping, southern living, ect. Today I'm sharing my mom's recipe for pumpkin bars (which is actually paula deen's recipe) that are really easy to make!

Ingredients for Bars:
4 eggs
1 2/3 cups of granulated sugar
1 cup vegetable oil
15 ounce can pumpkin
2 cups sifted self rising flour
2 teaspoons cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon salt

Ingredients for Cream Cheese Icing:

8 ounce package cheese cheese, softened
1/2 cup butter or margarine, softened
2 cups sifted confectioners sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Directions:
Preheat oven to 350 degrees
Using an electric mixer, combine eggs, sugar, oil, and pumpkin until light and fluffy.
Slowly add flour and cinnamon to mixture and mix at low speed until batter is smooth.

Spread the batter into a greased 13 by 10 inch baking pan.

Bake for 30 minutes and let stand until cool before frosting.
To make the icing:
Combine the cream cheese and butter in a medium bowl with an electric mixer until smooth.
Add the confectioners sugar and mix at low speed until combined.
Stir in the vanilla and mix again.

Spread on cooled pumpkin bars.

Hope you enjoy!

study nights.

So, tomorrow I will take my third test of the week which means I have had little time to do anything remotely enjoyable. But...These are the little things that make me happy when I am studying miserable things...

The best pair of lounge pants ever.

A hand-made coffee mug. I just like this one.. I don't actually own it, but I wish I did. I lost/am still looking for my most favorite coffee mug.. I bought it at the gumtree three years ago. I was going to buy a replacement, but John the Potter didn't show up to sell his mugs at the gumtree this year. I am currently using a coffee mug that I made in ceramics last fall...which isn't worthy of posting a picture of on here.

Caramel Dove Chocolates. Need I say more.

Volcano is the best smelling candle in the world. It will be on my Christmas list again this year.

AND last but not least....

WEASLEY!! The sweetest puppy in the whole world to keep me company while I study.

Fall...

Definitely my favorite season by FAR! This Fall has been one of the best for many reasons..

reason number one: Matt and Kim.

AND Will and I got to see them with these little cuties...

Reason number two: Pumpkin Patches!! I STILL get excited about them every year.

Reason number three: Two of my favorite birthday's...

MOM'S BIRTHDAY!!

AND... WILL'S BIRTHDAY!!

THIS is what he got...

A leather jacket. and it smells so good.

Reason number four:

OLE MISS FOOTBALL

Love that sunset in shades of red and blue...

Michael was too cool to wear his 3D halftime glasses. That was at the game against Auburn when we were really excited for the first half of the game... we all know how that story ended.

Reason number 5-7:

Cardigans, Gloves, and Scarves.

I hope everyone is having a WONDERFUL Fall!
